Animals Have Souls by Wolf-of-Samhain Animals Have Souls by Wolf-of-Samhain
I thought I'd edit the description here just because it is old and needed to be updated.

While I can't really say I believe in a soul or any religious belief, I should highlight that if someone does believe in life containing a soul, then non-human animals have life and would have a soul as well in this theory.

The point of this stamp is to acknowledge how similar all animals and life is. Humans are animals too, just a specific kind of animal. Our circulatory systems are equally complex, the way our brains work to process information is unmatched by anything we could possibly create (I think I heard somewhere that to achieve the same processing power of a brain, you would need a computer the size of Texas, a nuclear reactor to power it, and a river to cool said reactor), our social structures, emotions, etc etc. Nothing is simple about life! That being said, life should be treated with the utmost respect - all of life.

Anyways, this is still a crappy looking stamp but its about the concept and if there is any one idea that all life should conceive it is that all of life is equal.

Looking at this again, I [really] wish that anthros were real. They would absolutely DOMINATE us, begin to right the wrongs that the human race has committed, and actually take better care of this planet than we do now.

So do I. Or at least for other life to be able to communicate to us in a better fashion. If only they could say "No"....
Since they can't, we need to for them...

If animals had a better way to communicate and the ability to relay their thoughts and emotions in a more efficient manner, I doubt they would resort to violence unless it were the last resort. After all, they aren't living the life the way people live it so why would they think like people too? People resort to violence quicker than most all other animals. Fight or flight. Most animals choose flight to avoid confrontation. Humans jump right into it.

That's actually a better explanation. [Much] of what I'm trying to say refers to such experience that humans have with each other. Humans have [great] difficulty establishing peace and communicating with people with different races/religions/cultures/etc. I feel as if animals could talk, they may be ignored by people, and the people would just start attacking them for no [real] reason. Much like how different groups of people in the world are fighting to stay alive from sudden invaders, animals would still have to face that nonsense too.

I'm not quite sure about that. After all, most of the uneducated violence that happens amongst humans is due to just that, poor education and the lack of communication with each other. The internet is still fairly new and already has helped change the opinions of hundreds of millions of people. I suspect that 4 generations removed, racism and other types of senseless hatred will be as rare as albinos. Even the world's most poplar religions are falling apart (and good thing too). The liberal youth would disapprove.

"Even the most popular religions are falling apart (and good thing too)."

From that, I'm going to assume that you're an atheist.

I am Jewish, (as passed down from my family) but do not pay scrupulous attention to what my faith calls for. In fact, I deny many of its practices, including the belief in a [superior] God. My beliefs are turned more to Paganism, as I trust in the existence of spirits existing in all forms of life on this planet. Because a [loving] God would not have endangered millions of his own creatures to force upon a universal faith applicable to everything and everything it touches. While Christians, Jews, (and technically Muslims) share the same God, why should there be any bad blood between them? Believing in a God is one thing, but to compose entire books about what your religion is "entitled" to do (killing, discrimination, forcing beliefs upon others, etc.) History tells that [centralized] religion has caused the deaths of millions, and still shapes the world as we know it today. Even though my [former] religion has caused few of the deaths committed throughout history, and is still being antagonized today, I am ashamed to even know that people are still killing and dying in the name of an all-loving God.

I would like to call myself an agnostic, but the truth is that I do have a good bit of hostility towards organized religion for the reasons you've previously mentioned and many more mainly dealing with science and culture. In my opinion, it serves no purpose that couldn't be achieved without the belief in a deity. There are basic moral principals in many religions that are widely accepted though one doesn't need a mythical being to know not to be a murdering, stealing, rapist or that you shouldn't steal.

I don't like things that divide us further than we already are from each other and from the environments we live in. Religions are not capable of bringing anyone/anything outside of itself together and even if they prefer not to separate themselves from others of a different belief, it is done so on a subconscious level. For one to believe in a being that passes judgement on all creatures is also to be judged by the believer since they pity the non-believer in one way or another. One thing that totally sets me off (pet peeve) is when someone feels "sorry" for me for not sharing their beliefs. Even if they don't impose it on you, they still pity you and wish that you shared their belief that has no scientific foundation at all. Another one is when you are judged by not believing in an after life "Oh, that's so depressing". No...there is absolutely nothing depressing, morbid, or even bad in my opinion about not going to a heaven or whatever paradise when I'm dead. The brain ceases to function and therefore, I have no regard for my non-existence....because I don't exist. >.> This also makes me appreciate life more and not take it for granted and I've found that most people that do not believe in the concept of an afterlife share this appreciation. Again, -nothing- morbid about it (oh that one irritates me so much!). On the contrary, religion almost encourages you to be a reckless little brat because "meh, it'll be better once I'm dead". That's just like defecating on the chair you just got up from because you're not going to sit there again.....thanks a lot.

In a nutshell, I feel religion only keeps us from advancing in society, with societies, with the world and all the beneficial things that religions offer could be achieved with simple reasoning rather than reverting to the cliche default "Better be good or God will punish you". A good example of religion hindering progressive acceptance and such would be the anti-gay bills and I happen to be a homosexual. I would really like to know the reason why I shouldn't be allowed to get married in my state that does not involve a story from a novel that is likely to be a work of fiction. Fortunately, most modern day believers do not mind and on the contrary support gay marriage but it is the bigger organizations with all the free charity money that do the most damage....now they've moved to Uganda because they feel like America is a "lost cause" due to "godlessness". I don't know where you live, but we have a church every 2-4 blocks around here and bad stuff still happens.

I try not to tease others for their beliefs in such things but its really hard not to because I really don't know an appropriate way to convey my thoughts on the topic without sounding like a jerk because in my mind, its no different from having an imaginary friend that tells you how to behave and all the stories are just so far fetched that I just can't understand how someone could believe in them...like a talking, burning bush. When you say it like that, it is always going to sound condescending but when you take all the jargon out of it, this is what you're left with and by today's standards, its not socially acceptable to believe in such things.....unless, of course, it was God who made the bush burn and talk.

I can understand the security blanket aspect of it, but I can not bring myself to accept that people need it in order to comfortably survive and I feel it only holds us back from furthering ourselves as a species. If am am to be judged I am to be judged by what I present, not by what I believe.

I could go on and on but I must stop myself. It really does bother me in many different ways and that's why I am an atheist. If it didn't bother me, I'd be an agnostic. I've never been good at turning a blind eye to things.... Sorry for the rant.

The author repeats herself too many times and it should be "Species" not "Races".
Otherwise, I agree with most of what she said. A good stamp anyways though. Thanks for the link.

I noticed that too, and I personally thought that she is trying to compare speciesm to racism. Also, she says that she is absolutely fed up with people who make bogus arguments, hence the repeating.

I know it was long-winded, but a good chunk of it made perfect logical sense. This is probably the most important stamp I hold in my favorites. Anyways, I'm glad you agreed with the viewpoint. :)

A good portion of it, yes. I would disagree with would be the B12 statements only because it is processed differently when its in meat. Supplements don't really achieve the same results as found in naturally occurring instances of it that would be found in our earlier diets. Not to say we can't live without B12, but it can be very unhealthy. I guess my hangups with it are mainly in the department of the vegetarian/vegan arguments as well as the firearm being more expensive than going to the store and buying a healthy vegetarian diet. I was vegetarian for over 2 years and it is -not- cheap. Also, that could be seen as an investment like me buying a bread maker because gluten-free bread is stupid expensive (like $5 for 7 slices!). A $240 bread maker that I got on sale for $110 is about the same price as a cheap rifle and the flour and other ingredients I have to have to use it could be seen as its ammunition and the electricity the license to operate. Its still cheaper. I do not agree with hunting though...not for the most part and I never agree with predator hunting. If someone were to hunt, I'd prefer them do it without a license only based on the principal of not giving the USFG any money. Then there are also those with restricted diets that are limited. A friend of mine eats chicken or tuna, almonds, potatoes, and broccoli almost everyday because he can't eat anything else. I am sensitive to gluten myself so I can't have anything with wheat in it. That is not why I am no longer a vegetarian though. That's a whole other story that boils down to my philosophies changing mostly to do with current status and practical implication of the proposed staple diet.
I think the author will slightly change some of her views but has a good solid foundation that I find quite agreeable.

My own diet rarely consists of meats; as I do eat meat, my primary source of protein comes from fish, since it has been [scientifically] proven that vegetables don't produce as much protein as meat. I don't eat pork/bacon, beef, shrimp, or veal, and eat organic fruits and vegetables much of the time. While I have no allergens to food, I follow Kosher dietary plans mainly because it is healthier.

I live in the city, so I don't really see hunting as necessary. Personally, I think hunting has no real significance in the [modern] world. All of our food is pre-packaged and available in stores (unless you live on a farm). I do own a gun, (9x16 PM Makarov) but haven't really used it (since it was a family heirloom, not too effective in hunting, and gun laws are strict here).

But yeah, the [main] core of this argument is pretty strong.

And I have one more question: are you still a vegetarian?

No, it was was only for two years when I was 13 or so.

I live in the suburbs and I don't see hunting as necessary though I've also lived in many different types of rural areas from the mountains to the dessert. Still don't see it as necessary. The economics of hunting is the only thing to benefit from it or its propaganda, imo, and like all businesses, they are in it to make money. Non-lethal measures to prevent coyote predation have proven to be more effective and cost less as well. The same applies to other species of concern. There again, they are only out of balance because of the circumstances that we created, as the author states. It can be corrected...

I believe that if humans have souls then so do animals because we are all made of the same matter with very intricate mechanics such as circulatory systems and senses (sight, smell, hear, touch, taste). All of these are so profound to occur and so is life itself. I'm not sure if soul exist or not and to be honest, I don't even care. All I know is that we are one and the same and its about time we act like it. Realizing similarities brings us closer between other humans and our environment. Religion likes to muddy things up.

Good stamp. I believe animals have souls, and whenever I see a dead animal, I just pray for its soul to go to heaven. Animals don't really know the difference between right and wrong like we do, it's just instinct; I would like to think that because of that they would be shown mercy in the afterlife.
